5 Planet Alignment: Free Astrology Report
Throughout June 2022, Mars, Venus, Mercury, Jupiter and Saturn will be visibly aligned in the night sky until they are joined by the moon on the 24th for an astrological state-of-the-union address.
Astrology fans rejoice as a rare and auspicious occasion greets us as we are approaching the height of spring and the beginning of summer in June 2022. Starting on the 4th, five planets, all the major planetary players, will be visible in the night sky simultaneously, stretching up until June 24th when the moon will join them to become visible in the lineup as well. Mars, Venus, Mercury, Jupiter and Saturn will all fall into a lineup in order to deliver their message. This isn’t the rarest possible occasion in terms of astrological phenomena, but the last time this happened was in 2004, and a similar alignment is set to happen in the year 2040. The gathering of the planetary powers in an occasion such as this would’ve still been regarded in the ancient astrology-observing civilizations such as Rome and Babylon as an opportunity to receive special messages from the gods, as the planetary powers were the representation of the divine powers and their messages for humanity in the sky. You might consider this occasion as a planetary state-of-the-union address.
So as this occurrence becomes a nightly event, it is as if the planetary divine energies are lining up in order to gain our attention. In order to gain some deeper insights on what such a message is going to entail, we can examine the event chart of the moment that the moon will fall into this same lineup: 45 minutes before sunrise on June 24th, 2022.
In order to dissect this event chart, some basic astrological knowledge is needed, but fear not because I’ll walk you through it using my astrological knowledge.
The first thing to keep in mind is that this occurrence will take place during Cancer season, as you can see the sun is in the sign of Cancer. The moon is the ruler of Cancer, so the placement of the moon becomes of special importance and particular significance to look at in this chart. Astrologically the moon represents the physical embodiment of life on earth, as the moon has been associated with the feminine. The moon’s association with the crab Cancer is tied to its watery and oceanic symbolism; the moon controls the tides, and full moons once brought a celebration of the plentiful bounties of the ocean as the gravitational pull washed up food on shore for early humans to collect. The moon’s bounty was nurturing and generous, as our ancestors were able to pluck crabs, mollusks, clams, and other tasty morsels straight off the beach.
In “Postcolonial Astrology”, Alice Sparkly Kat explores how prior to industrialization, the moon was tied to the feminine through the association of labour. Labour is how humans are brought into the world, and it is for their labour that the lower classes are encouraged to reproduce; the bounty of the feminine is continually taken advantage of by the world’s capitalist powers. The moon was also associated with the liquidity of markets, as those who couldn’t become landowners or take part in labour were forced to find other means, and often those who were refused labour for being outsiders to Western culture had to find other ways to get by, often as purveyors of foreign goods via means of traveling across the sea or by boat. Thus, foreigners, labour, the feminine, and the liquidity of markets are all associated with the moon. Keep this in mind as we chart the course of the 5-Planet Alignment as the moon plays a significant role in this chart.
The moon will be waning, as this event will take place after the full moon on June 14th, meaning we’re not gearing up for anything right as the alignment will take place but rather processing and digesting events that have already happened. The moon phase signals that on this occasion, we are looking back at what worked and what hasn’t worked much more than we are looking forwards; we are learning to let go.
The ascendant of this chart of the moment that the moon appears among the lineup is Gemini, which is ruled by Mercury. Thus, Mercury is the ruler of this chart, which also appears on the ascendant. Charts where the chart ruler appears on the ascendant are very noticeable and public; the truth of the situation appears obvious to everyone and can be easily understood. The mutable air sign of Gemini brings the elements of confusion and duality to this moment when the planets align in the sky; everyone will know what’s going whether they understand astrology or not because there has been the sensation of buildup to this event. Expect public anxiety to be high. It’s also worth noting that until June 18th, we’ll still be experiencing the shadow period of post-Mercury retrograde, which ended on the 4th. This means that the full effects of Mercury retrograde are waning but we may still be unpacking those events and feeling their aftershocks in our lives. Mercury seems to be particularly calling attention to himself and his new dramatic role in our lives as the ruler of our new communication platforms, social media, and other forms of technology. This could be a good opportunity to look at the role that technology has played in your life and how it influences the collective. We live in such a profoundly different world now thanks to Mercury’s influence; everything has changed about how we think and communicate. Some of it for the better, some of it for the worse. How can you emphasize the positive parts of these information age changes while minimizing the negative?
Saturn is also a major player here, because it appears conjunct the midheaven in Aquarius. The midheaven is the area of how things appear to the public and indicates the outward life in maturity; it seems only fitting that Saturn is conjunct here because it emphasizes age and established order. Saturn is having a curious time in the fixed air sign of Aquarius because Aquarius itself is peculiar; it carries strange connotations of static, and despite its projection of carefree rebelliousness, it’s not as free-flowing as air should be due to its fixed nature. Maybe Saturn’s presence in Aquarius conjunct the midheaven will be cause to reflect on our frustrations with how it can feel like nothing is changing in the modern age, how the entrenched powers of hierarchy, class and capital have us feeling “stuck” even as historical events rock the timeline and bring us closer to the edges of recession and decline. However, it’s important to remember that there’s always more happening than meets the eye.
It’s hard to say whose “side” Mars is on, but this planet named after the Roman god of war has been present in his domicile of cardinal fire Aries and conjunct Jupiter for a hot second, meaning that the sweltering heat of this moment is billowing and expansive, filling everyone with a passion and lust for battle. His conjunction with Chiron means that these wars we’ll be waging are about healing primal wounds that have been inflicted upon us, perhaps not just in our own lives, but several generations of boiling tensions around these traumas are coming to a head right now and heating up for an explosive summer.
In order to better understand these planetary tensions and what’s going on behind the scenes, it’s time to turn our attention to the aspects present in this chart when all the planets plus the moon (a luminary) appears in alignment. Uranus conjunct the moon appears as her savior figure and ally, and Uranus will be squaring off against Saturn in this chart. A square is an aspect full of tension and conflict; the two planetary energies are fighting each other. Uranus is sometimes called the “higher octave of Mercury”, suggesting some sort of alliance between the foreign-feminine labourer and the countercultural rebellious trickster energy of new technology and innovation. They are the stars of this show, taking center stage for the time being, although which parties will emerge the “winner” of this clash is still a topic that may be surrounded in confusion and mystery. This showdown between Uranus and Saturn highlights the fight between innovation and entrenched power.
The moon will also be squaring the midheaven while the sun squares Jupiter. The narrative of this alignment becomes clearer; this is a conflict between the liquidity of markets, labour and the feminine against entrenched patriarchal forces of power and hierarchy. The moon is stepping up to issue this challenge to humanity: The way things are being done, the way things have always been done, the way that things were done before, is no longer good enough. “Business as usual” is killing us.
We must rise up. We must rise up and join as one, together, in order to defeat the evils wrought by our fathers and forefathers.
This means that we’re gearing up this summer for massive collective action. The planets are announcing that we are now in a phase of history where collective action will be continually necessary in order to defeat entrenched powers of capitalist exploitation. Saturn’s iron grip upon the world has been loosened, but the entrenched powers of capitalist exploitation will do anything to preserve themselves, including devouring the fruits of the earth until there’s nothing left; this is an archetypal force in the world that absolutely refuses to die. He must be killed. He must be defeated by collective action and righteous combat from the masses, who threaten to overpower him everyday as he howls in the terror of his death throes. Venus, the planet of love and beauty, stands by Mercury’s side in the sign of Gemini as she rules over the same sign of Taurus that the moon finds itself in. The very force of the earth that sustains us urges us with the need to take down entrenched powers of capital and hierarchy with the north node’s presence in Taurus conjunct the moon and Uranus, as exploitation of the earth—the same body from which the moon became separated—poisons life on this planet. Expect to see worker’s rights movements, feminist and pro-LGBT+ movements rise up with more unity and technological coordination than ever before.
